As the Florida Bay Forever staff started the process of developing a new logo, they went back to their Florida Keys roots: Valerie Perreault, owner and artist of Portside Gallery in Islamorada.

“Valerie was the creative force behind our first logo and we wanted our new look to keep the linocut style that she is the master of,” said Executive Director Emma Haydocy. “We wanted to retain the mangrove from our first design and incorporate the elements that are most important to the health of Florida Bay: water and seagrass.”

Valerie Perreault is a visual artist and published poet whose work is housed in private collections across the U.S. and in more than 15 countries around the world. She is renowned for her linocut designs: her block prints are all hand carved, hand cut, hand inked, and hand pressed in her studio in the heart of Islamorada.

Valerie brought Florida Bay Forever’s vision to life and generously donated the original artwork. Check out this video to watch Valerie’s artistic process unfold and our new logo come to life!
