District 26 Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell met with conservation organizations in her Miami office.

As a kick-off to her community tour, she hosted Audubon, NPCA, the Everglades Foundation as well as Florida Bay Forever to listen and learn about concerns and priorities for the fate of the Everglades.

Her goal was to come away with a better understanding of some of the pressing issues but to take away actionable items she could use to make change. Top priorities for the group included tracking the LOSOM process as well as finding common ground between agriculture and environmental needs. Of course, the interests of Florida Bay and the need for fresh water was a major part of this conversation.

To the credit of this freshman Congresswoman, she is willing to listen to constituents and understands the need to compromise with special interests. Everglades Restoration is not the only thing on her plate, but this smart leader can multitask with the best of them.
